We are sweltering in Baltimore County, Maryland. Actually this is not completely accurate - we were actually melting though now we are enjoying a partial reprieve. I'm speaking of the 5 nights we were without power due to an unexpected storm in Maryland that caused 500,000 + customer to lose electricity.
Day time temperatures reached 95 to 100 degrees, night time temperatures didn't drop enough to really cool the house down. We all ended up sleeping on the 1st floor. On the 4th night Darlene and Laura went to a local hotel to escape the heat and enjoy some of the things we often take for granted - lights, radio, internet, tv, cool drinks and hot meals. They also took some of our accumulated laundry since our supply of towels, t shirts, and so on was approaching critical levels.
I joined them on the 5th night (July 3rd) and we all returned home on the 4th since we heard that local power had been restored.
Today's temperature is expected to peak at 102. But at least we have electricity.
