This past week Laura had appointments every day. On Monday, she had her first outpatient PT
appointment at Good Samaritan Hospital.
On Tuesday, Laura, Emily and I had an appointment at the Wellness House
in Annapolis. The Wellness House offers
supportive services free of charge to families affected by cancer and were
happy to be of support to our family since Laura had chemo and a bone marrow
transplant. We spent some time talking
with a licensed social worker who also had a degree in pastoral counseling and
we each had a 1/2 hour chair massage. It
was a very relaxing time for all of us and we are looking forward to going back
again and trying some other things they offer like yoga, healing touch, art and
music therapy.
On Wednesday, Laura had her first OT appointment followed by
PT. On Thursday, Laura had a appointment
for Neuropsychological testing from 9am to 3pm.
It was an exhausting day for her.
We had a hour break for lunch and another family who we didn't even know
treated us to lunch! They overheard us talking about what to do for lunch,
since the building we were in did not have a cafeteria. They were going out to pick up lunch and
offered to pick up our lunch as well and refused to take money for it. I have
been so touched by others random acts of kindness. I will look for
opportunities to pay it forward. On Friday, Laura had her clinic appointment at
Hopkins. We were glad for the weekend to
just relax and look out the window and admire the snow.
