February News

Hi Everyone!  It's hard to believe but Laura is 146 days post bone marrow transplant.  This has been some journey for Laura and our family.  Around day 150 Laura will start tapering off her Cyclosporine medication which is used to prevent her from rejecting Emily's bone marrow and by mid March she will hopefully be off the Cyclosporine completely.  Laura will be so happy to be off this medicine.  It is a large capsule that smells like skunk and tastes bad too!  In fact, when we open the foil wrap that it comes in we have to air it out in a separate room for about a half hour before she takes it to get rid of the smell!  Needless to say there will be a celebration in our house when she's off this medicine.  Laura has already told me we need to have a cake to officially celebrate the occasion.

We are looking forward to the weekend.  Laura, Emily and I have plans to go to the movies tomorrow to see The Vow and then out to lunch.  On Saturday, Neil/Dad/Opa is coming for a visit and Laura and I plan to go to a book signing of Michael Oher's (Ravens player #74) new book in the afternoon!

Please continue to keep Laura in your prayers.  She has an appointment with her neurologist on Wednesday and with an ortho doctor on Thursday.

Wishing all of you a good weekend and a Happy Valentine's Day!  Life is a special occasion.  Celebrate each and every day you are given.  God bless each and everyone of you.
