Yesterday marked the last day of in-home occupational  therapy.  From this point foward we will be involved in outpatient therapy.  In the past this has been at Good Samaritan Hospital.  Darlene is taking care of scheduling that as well as she is monitoring our position on the wait list at Kennedy Kreuger for [swimming] pool therapy.

Yesterday Laura appeared weaker and less motivated then typical.  When the therapists were at our house, they both noticed that while standing, Laura's back was arched at a peculiar angle.  This may have be a result of her AFO's and an adjustment was made.  Later in the day, Laura mentioned a number of times that her throat was sore.  Darlene eventually got a decent look at Laura's throat and noticed some redness and white spots.  Her temperature was 99.8.

An appointment was made with her primary care physician for 3:30, the results of which were that her temperature was still climbing.  A throat culture was done (results are pending) and medication prescribed.  In the middle of the night her temperature was still hovering around 100 and she mentioned her legs and stomach hurt, though couldn't clearly pinpoint or describe the exact discomfort.

Sometimes the day to day care is a guessing game.  We listen for clues, look for patterns, and observe her behaviors all in an effort to put a picture together.  Darlene called it right on the sore throat, but the leg and stomach pain will be a little more difficult.

Nonetheless, all is not bad - today marks the first day a student from Towson University is coming over to be with Laura for 4 hours while Darlene gets a much needed break. Darlene will spend some time with a women's group at church and then have lunch with Emily, our other daughter.
