Merry Christmas to all. This has been a week full of excitment and wishes come true for Laura. On Tuesday we toured the Ravens training camp in Owings Mills. Now I know why they call it a castle, it is huge ! The facility sits on 32 beautiful acres and we saw the indoor fields, racketball courts, 1/2 basketball court, dining facility, equipment room, broadcasting room, offices, etc... It was quite amazing. Yesterday we went to the game and were escorted to the club level, thanks to the awesome partnership between Cherished Creations and the Baltimore Ravens Community Relations.
We were covered head to toe to combat the cold and the wind. Laura was outfitted in all manner of Ravens clothing, from socks, sweatpants, jersey, sweatshirt, snuggie, and even earrings and a Ravens Christmas hat. We were glad we could go inside to the club level every once in a while to warm up and sip on hot chocolate. It was a great experience cheering on the Ravens and watching as we completed a perfect home record.
Afterwards, Marlene, from the Ravens Community Relations, introduced Laura to the players as they were leaving the stadium. Marlene would walk up to one of the players and say something like "Micheal, I'd like you to meet a good friend of mine, Laura". Laura met Morgan Cox, Chris Carr, Michael Oher, Haruki Nakamura, Haloti Ngata, Brendon Ayanbadejo, Pernell McPhee, Jah Reid, Dennis Pilta, Sam Koch, and last but not least, Joe Flacco.
Christmas Eve evening we hosted dessert and exchanged some gifts. This morning we exchanged some gifts with our family and had a late breakfast. Paul and I enjoyed a nice afternoon nap and the we celebrated day 100 of Laura's post bone marrow transplant by going to see the movie "We Bought a Zoo" and then going out to dinner.
This was the best and most relaxing Christmas I can remember.
